Who We Are

When we first landed on the name Superseed, we wanted a logo that captured our enthusiasm. We sketched a little rocket, and for a moment, it felt like the perfect fit.

But then we asked ourselves: What does a rocket really mean right now?

Today, rockets represent an exit strategy. People are pouring billions into programs designed to help our species escape Earth. That is the exact opposite of our mission. We believe this planet is a miracle—that simply being here means we’ve hit the cosmic jackpot.

But we haven’t always treated our home well, and we need to ask ourselves what trajectory we are on. Habitable land is the most finite resource in the known universe. Let’s not take it for granted. Let’s not abandon it. Let’s work together to heal the land and watch life flourish.

You may not have the power to change the whole world, but you do have the power to steward the land right outside your doorstep—and that makes a world of difference. If that feels overwhelming, we are here to help in any way we can.

Spencer Branson

Spencer is somewhat long-winded and has a stern face. If you can get past these traits, you will find someone completely and utterly obsessed with crafting landscapes with outsized benefits. He has worn many hats: gardener, farmer, landscape laborer, permaculture instructor, urban and landscape designer, long-range city planner, wood and metal fabricator to name a few. He also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture from Colorado State University. All of these endeavors have converged into Superseed.

Spencer is a husband, father of twins, and steward of a half-acre plot of land– all of which are humbling and immensely gratifying. He takes particular delight in the small creatures and native pollinators that make landscapes come alive, and has a passion for designing with plants and materials that celebrate the regional specificity of each site.

Brian Stokes

Brian can be found on-site at each client project—rain or shine—working on everything from hardscapes to irrigation to plantings, ensuring that each installation is executed with exceptional quality. He also contributes knowledge and excellent artistic ability to landscape designs and educational content. He does all of this without any caffeine—crazy, we know.

Brian holds a Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture from Colorado State University and has experience in forest management, trail construction, and wildland firefighting. He is an avid backpacker (the longer the trail, the better– he backpacked 3,100 miles from Mexico to Canada along the Continental Divide Trail). His favorite flower is the Western Pasqueflower, which reminds him of the Truffula Trees from The Lorax.

We dedicate our work to the enduring memory of Patsy Branson. Though she left us too soon, her knowledge, passion and conviction continue to guide this company.
